Costume, Props and Character Discription

Character one

This Video introduces the main character. who goes by the name Helen.

This is Helen the character I play, she is picked for this role because of her normality. She is an ordinary office lady, being young she can be portrayed both vulnerable and innocent. This is significant as it helps the audience relate to her and depict her as the victim. Relativity is very important in thrillers as it is the way in which the movie reaches the audience by enabling them to empathise with the character and experience various emotions.

Costume
The Costume that we have chosen for this character is a suit and heels. We wanted this character to wear heels to enforce her femininity thus created a sense of ordinarily. the heels would help portray this character as both feminine, ordinary and classy, this makes it much easier for the audience to connect with this character as they can recognise features of normality.  The heels allow the audience to immediately differentiate the gender of this character before the face and clothing is revealed, this is what makes this costume significant.  We decided that a suit was the best costume for this character to wear as it reveals both her gender and personality. The  prop the handbag and the costume the suit, includes a skirt thus confirming her personality, that she is very feminine as she is wearing a smart skirt instead of trousers. The smartness of her clothing suggests that this woman is very clever and professional. The suit alone announces her occupation, suggesting that she works in a smart environment e.g an office or a law firm as she is wearing a smart costume. This overall presents her as a normal hardworking lady. The hint of a smile on her face suggests that she is a happy bubbly person, that she enjoys her life.

Character two

This Video introduces the main character. who goes by the name Lazar.

This is Laser, the character that Kris Bean plays, the video above helps to illustrate his personality and his role in this opening sequence. The video presents Laser as expressionless, this is an abnormal way to present a character as it makes him appears as though he has no emotions, no pain. The make up of this character; short hair, reveals this character is masculine. Laser is presented as a character that is hard to analyse as he seems disconnected the the features of normality as his face is expressionless. His eyes are staring straight ahead which creates a feeling of paranormal as though this character can stare deep into your soul. This positively creates a sense of mystery, fear and threat when focusing on this character.

Costume
The costume that we have chosen for Blade is dominated by dark colouring as his jacket is black, this presents this character with dark imagery as black is associated with negative things. this gives the audience the impression that this character is evil, however, the ordinariness of his clothing types conflicts the nature of his character. as his clothing is regarded as casual; dark blue jeans and converses, this makes this character seem more interesting as there is more to him than what meets the eye. Its these conflicting impressions that keep the audience engaged in the movie.

Character Three

This is Blade who is played by Stuart Bean. His personality is presented in this image by created a theme of rebelliousness within the costume and body language. The character eyes look  focus and determined as if this person is on a mission. His hands are placed calmly by his side which demonstrates that this character is domineering, he's in control of the situation. The ordinariness of his face however create a sense of normality, which creates a feeling of mystery within the viewers.

Costume
For this character we have decided that his costume should present a rebellious youthful nature. The costume successfully does this by having a hood and jeans, clothing both considered as casual and hoods are considered as a concealment weapon for anti-social behaviour. This overall presents this character as a troublemaker, we found this interesting as it creates more mystery and questions within the characters. As the two actors Lazar and Blade are presented as partners in crime, their choice of costume suggested contrasting personalities. For props we decided that this character should have a phone; a blackberry in particular, as it confirms his youth. The usage of the phone is what will interest the viewers as the character is expected to get a call in the movie, whom is he calling is concealed.
